02 / VISION & MISSION

MISSION
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity Philippines brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

In simple terms, Habitat works with families, volunteers, and partners to help people access decent housing and build stronger communities.

“Putting God’s love into action” shows the faith behind its work. “Bringing people together” means families, volunteers, donors, and partners build side by side. “Homes, communities, and hope” means the goal goes beyond houses to stronger neighborhoods and a more confident future for their families.

VISION
Habitat for Humanity Philippines envisions a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

This vision describes its long-term hope: a future where every person and family can live in a safe, decent home.

A “decent place to live” means more than a roof: a home that is safe, affordable, and stable enough for a family to grow. By aiming for “everyone,” the vision treats housing as a need that should reach all people, including low-income families and disaster survivors.

08 / HOW DIFFERENT GROUPS HELP

Safe housing takes teamwork.

Everyone deserves a safe place to live, but one organization cannot solve the housing problem alone. Families share what they need, governments help plan and support housing, businesses and donors provide resources, and volunteers and nonprofit groups lend a hand. By working together, they can help more families find safer homes. Habitat helps with this work, but it does not replace the government.

01

Families and communities

Families explain what they need and help decide what their community needs most.

02

Local governments (LGUs)

City and town governments help identify families who need support and coordinate local housing services.

03

National government

National agencies create housing rules and programs and can work with Habitat to support families.

04

Businesses and donors

Companies and donors can give money, building materials, skills, or other support.

05

Volunteers

Volunteers give their time and skills to help with building and community activities.

06

Other nonprofit groups

Other nonprofit and community groups can join efforts to help families, especially after disasters.

09 / GROUP ASSESSMENT

A closer look at the organization.

As BPA students, we assessed Habitat for Humanity Philippines not only by its housing projects, but also by how its work responds to public needs, uses partnerships, and demonstrates accountability. This assessment is based on the public information and sources listed on this website.

01 / STRENGTHS

Community-centered approach

Habitat focuses on a basic public need: safe and decent housing. Its work includes housing support, disaster response, volunteer involvement, and partnerships. These approaches can help communities take part in rebuilding rather than receive assistance passively. Its housing stories also show the human impact that stable shelter can have on families.

02 / KEY CHALLENGES

Needs exceed available resources

The Philippine housing problem is larger than any one nonprofit can solve. Low-income families may still face high construction costs, limited access to housing finance, insecure land tenure, and disaster risks. This means that even effective projects may reach only a portion of families in need. Long-term progress depends on coordination with government, communities, and other housing partners.

03 / ACCOUNTABILITY

Impact should be measurable

Stories and completed projects help explain the organization’s work, but they do not alone show the full scale or long-term results of its programs. A stronger public assessment would also examine how many families are assisted, whether homes remain safe over time, how beneficiaries are selected, how funds are used, and whether communities are satisfied. These measures help the public judge results more clearly.

04 / RECOMMENDATIONS

Build on results and partnerships

We recommend publishing clear, updated results on housing units completed, families served, project costs, and follow-up outcomes. Habitat can continue working with local government units to identify high-need communities, connect families to affordable financing, and prepare homes for climate and disaster risks. Regular beneficiary feedback and post-project monitoring can also help identify problems early and improve future programs.

Overall evaluation

Our assessment is that Habitat for Humanity Philippines has an important role in addressing housing needs, especially through community participation and partnerships. However, its contribution should be judged alongside the scale of the country’s housing challenges. Strong coordination, transparent reporting, and evidence of lasting outcomes are important for building public trust and making housing programs more effective.
